I heard it was good. Kyle wanted to see it. A review of The Lighthouse (2019) dir. Robert Eggers. Spoilers.

I really like that it was black and white with a fullscreen aspect ratio. Very unique look.
This movie must not have been too expensive to make. There are only 2 characters and they do not leave this small island with like 3 areas. Very few special effects. I think the crew was very smart in what to include and what to cut. The film is most effective because of the small scope. Everything feels tight. Nothing is unnecessary.
I was impressed by the monologues Willem Dafoe had to memorize for the movie. I need to learn the Triton curse monologue to use against misbehaving campers this summer.
What does the movie mean? What part of it is real? Is it queer? Well, it is queer. Queer meaning strange. I think that the movie is from Ephraim's perspective, although shown to the audience in 3rd person. The things that we see are real for Ephraim, but not necessarily real within the narrative. Thomas' craziness is set in stone, while Ephraim's progresses as time goes on.
It's like how, in Berger (2026) dir. Keri, Berger is a static character. It is Abby's story because she gets progressively more fed up with her husband until she snaps and leaves. Thomas is the Berger of The Lighthouse, and Ephraim is Abby.
Will watch again. 7/10
